There is a Japanese concept called ma — the beauty of negative space, of what is left out. This arrangement understands that concept completely. Three peonies — one fully open, one half-open, one still a bud — rise from a smooth teardrop vase in a loose, unhurried arrangement. The grey wall behind them. The black lacquer base beneath. Nothing else.

It is the quietest piece in our collection. It is also one of the most beautiful.
